About the course

Director's Role for Health and Safety is CITB's course for directors and senior managers who shape health and safety decisions in construction businesses. It sets out directors' duties of care, the consequences of getting it wrong and how leadership from the top builds a positive safety culture. Build UK endorses it as the standard training for company directors and senior managers.

Through case studies and group discussion you look at the moral, legal and financial costs of boardroom decisions, managing risk strategically, appointing competent duty holders and health and safety advice, and the practical tools that make health and safety proactive rather than reactive.

CITB expects delegates either to have done the course before or to have a working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969, CDM 2015 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. CITB's free pre-course eLearning, about an hour and a half, covers the background.

If no dates are listed, ask us about the next one. The course also works well in-house for a board or senior team: tell us how many people and where you're based.
