MHFA England / MHFA
Two days that train you to spot the signs of mental ill health, start a supportive conversation and guide a colleague towards help. Live online with a tutor.
Mental Health First Aid trains people to recognise when a colleague may be struggling and to respond with confidence. Mental health is a serious issue in construction and in many other industries, and a trained Mental Health First Aider can make it easier for someone to ask for help early.
The course covers the Mental Health First Aid action plan and how to use it with depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, psychosis, and alcohol and drug use. You practise listening without judgement and signposting people to professional support.
It runs live online with a tutor on set dates, so people can take part from anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley or Chesterfield. You'll need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, a microphone and a reliable internet connection, and a quiet room to work in. For a group, we can arrange the course in-house.
Mental Health First Aiders don't diagnose or provide therapy, and the course doesn't replace your physical first aiders. Training is valid for three years, and a short refresher is recommended after that.
Anyone who wants to support colleagues' mental health, especially site managers, supervisors, team leaders and people in HR or wellbeing roles.
Tutor-led, live online. Prices are per delegate and exclude VAT.
