NEBOSH / NEBOSH General
NEBOSH's broad health and safety certificate for managers and supervisors in any sector, from risk assessment and safety management to fire, work equipment and wellbeing. Taught live online by a tutor, and also available by distance learning.
The NEBOSH National General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety gives you a solid grounding in managing health and safety at work. It suits managers and supervisors in any sector, and people moving into a health and safety adviser or coordinator role. It isn't tied to one industry, so it works as well in a Doncaster warehouse or a Rotherham factory as on a construction site.
The course follows NEBOSH's two units. NG1 covers how health and safety is managed: why it matters, management systems, risk assessment, people and behaviour, and monitoring performance. NG2 covers the hazards found in most workplaces, including physical and psychological health, musculoskeletal problems, chemical and biological agents, work equipment, fire and electricity.
Our tutor-led course runs live online on set dates, so you can join from home or work anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley or Chesterfield, with no travel. You'll need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, a microphone and a reliable internet connection, and a quiet room to work in. If you'd rather study around shifts, the same certificate is available by self-study distance learning.
NEBOSH sets and marks the assessments: an online open-book exam for NG1 and a practical risk assessment of a workplace for NG2. Pass both and NEBOSH issues your certificate, which has no expiry date. If you work in a health and safety role, the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice is a natural next step.
Managers, supervisors and team leaders in any sector who are responsible for health and safety, and anyone starting a career as a health and safety adviser. No previous qualification is needed, but you'll need to read and write English well enough to answer NEBOSH's written assessments.
Tutor-led in the classroom or live online. Prices are per delegate and exclude VAT.

IOSH Managing Safely is a three-day course for managers and team leaders; Working Safely is a one-day course for everyone else. Here's how to choose, what each covers, and how employers train a whole team.
Live online courses are taught in real time by a tutor, with the same content and certificate as the classroom. Here's what to expect on the day and what you'll need.
Both are well-known NEBOSH certificates, but one is built for any workplace and the other for construction. Here's how to choose, how each is assessed, and whether to study live online or by distance learning.

Our tutor-led NEBOSH General Certificate runs live online, so you can join from home or work in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chesterfield or anywhere else, with no travel. Each date on this page shows how and where it runs. Any classroom dates listed are elsewhere in the country, not in South Yorkshire, so check the location before you book.
Take the General Certificate if you work in manufacturing, logistics, offices, the public sector or anywhere other than construction. If your work is on building sites, the construction certificate is the better fit: it covers CDM 2015, work at height, excavations and demolition, and supports a CSCS Academically Qualified Person card application.
There are two assessments, both marked by NEBOSH. NG1 is an open-book exam you complete online within a set time window, answering questions about a workplace scenario. NG2 is a practical risk assessment you carry out at a workplace and write up. You need to pass both.
No, it has no expiry date. You'll still be expected to keep your knowledge current as the law and good practice change, for example through CPD or further study.
Live online gives you a tutor, a class to learn with and a fixed timetable, which helps if you find it hard to study alone. Distance learning lets you start on any day and study around shifts. Both lead to the same NEBOSH certificate and the same NEBOSH assessments.
Many people use it to move into a health and safety adviser role. If you're already working in health and safety, you could go on to the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, which is assessed on your own work rather than by exam.
NEBOSH
NEBOSH's construction certificate, now called Health and Safety Management for Construction (UK): CDM 2015, work at height, excavations, demolition and site hazards. Taught live online by a tutor, and also available by distance learning.
NEBOSH
NEBOSH's fire safety certificate for people responsible for fire safety at work: how fires start and spread, prevention and protection, and how to carry out a fire risk assessment.
NEBOSH
The NEBOSH National General Certificate taught in evening sessions instead of full days, so you can keep working while you study.
