About the course

IOSH Working Safely gives staff at any level a grounding in health and safety. It's for people with little or no formal safety training, in any sector: operatives, warehouse and production staff, office teams and new starters.

The course explains what hazards and risks are, how to spot common hazards at work, how everyone can help improve safety performance, and how to protect the environment. It's practical and uses everyday examples.

It runs live online with a tutor on set dates, so people can join from anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley or Chesterfield. You'll need a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam, a microphone and a reliable internet connection, and a quiet room to work in. To train a whole team at once, we can run it in-house at your site across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire.

There's a short assessment at the end of the day. Pass it and IOSH issues your Working Safely certificate.

Questions about the Working Safely

Who should take IOSH Working Safely?

Anyone who needs a grounding in health and safety, whatever their job or sector. It's often used for new starters and for teams who've had little formal safety training. Managers and supervisors should look at IOSH Managing Safely instead.

IOSH Working Safely or CITB Health and Safety Awareness?

For construction site operatives, the CITB Health and Safety Awareness course is built around site hazards. IOSH Working Safely isn't specific to one industry, so it suits mixed teams and workplaces outside construction.

Can we train our whole team at once?

Yes. For a group from one employer we can run Working Safely in-house at your premises in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, Chesterfield or nearby. Tell us how many people and where.

How does the live online course work?

You join a scheduled session with a tutor and other delegates, using a computer with a webcam and microphone. It's a real class with discussion and exercises, not a recorded video, and the assessment is taken at the end of the day.
