About the course

The ECITB Level 3 Diploma in Engineering Construction (Lifting, Positioning and Installing Structures, Plant and Equipment: Steel Erecting) is for experienced steel erectors in engineering construction who carry out more complex lifting, positioning and installation work.

Your evidence comes from your own work: planning and preparing for lifts and installation, positioning and installing steel structures, plant and equipment, and working safely with the rest of the erection team.

It's assessed on your job, with no classroom days. It's a natural next step after the ECITB Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Erecting Steelwork Components.

Experienced steel erectors in engineering construction who lift, position and install structures, plant and equipment.

How NVQs work

An NVQ has no course dates. You prove you're competent with evidence from the work you already do, with an assessor guiding you from start to finish.

    Enrol and pay online. We register you for the qualification.

    Meet your assessor

    You're assigned an assessor who plans your NVQ with you and guides you through it.

  3. 3

    Build your portfolio

    Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.

    Assessment

    Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.

  5. 5

    Certificate and CSCS card

    Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.

Does it lead to a CSCS card?

ECITB qualifications are for the engineering construction industry and aren't one of the CSCS card levels. Ask your employer or the site which card or passport they need before you enrol.

Level 2 or Level 3?

Level 2 covers erecting steelwork components. Level 3 is for experienced erectors doing more complex lifting, positioning and installing of structures, plant and equipment.
