About the course

This Level 2 qualification is for installers who already put in heating and ventilating ductwork on commercial and industrial jobs. It proves you can install, support and connect ductwork systems safely and to specification.

Your evidence comes from real jobs on your own sites around Sheffield and Rotherham. Expect to show photos of duct runs, supports and connections you've installed, the drawings you worked from, and statements from your supervisor or the building services contractor.

An NVQ has no dates to book. You pay in full online, we register you, and your assessor agrees an evidence plan with you and reviews it as you go. Typically it takes 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish.

The qualification doesn't expire. Building services trades can be covered by more than one card scheme, so check the card finder on the CSCS website for ductwork installers to see which card it supports. CSCS also asks for the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test within the last two years.

Who it's for

Ductwork installers and fitters working in heating, ventilation and air conditioning who want a recognised Level 2 qualification.

What you'll learn

  • Working safely: health, safety and welfare on site

Something else? Call 07939 593032.

How long does the Level 2 ductwork installation qualification take?

Typically 6 to 8 weeks. The biggest factor is how quickly you gather the evidence: if you're working as a ductwork installer every day and send photos and statements as you go, it moves quickly.

Do I have to come to your Rotherham venue?

No. An NVQ is assessed on the work you do, so there are no course dates or classroom sessions. Our venue at Bradmarsh Business Park in Rotherham is used for CITB classroom courses such as SSSTS and SMSTS; for the Level 2 ductwork installation qualification the evidence comes from your own jobs.

I'm a self-employed ductwork installer. Can I still do it?

Yes, as long as you're working in the trade and can show evidence from real jobs. Witness statements can come from someone who has seen your work, such as the site supervisor or the contractor you're working for. Your assessor will tell you what's acceptable before you start collecting.
