The Cavity Barrier Installation pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Interior Systems, for experienced cavity barrier installers who need a Blue CSCS card. Assessed on your own work.
This is the Cavity Barrier Installation pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Interior Systems. It's for cavity barrier installers whose day-to-day work is installing cavity barriers, on offices, flats, schools and other fit-out jobs, and it proves you do it safely and to specification.
Your evidence comes from the work you're doing now, from Doncaster and Barnsley to Chesterfield. Typical evidence: photos of cavity barriers you've installed, the specifications and manufacturer's details you followed, and statements from your supervisor. Fire safety work is closely checked, so clear photos of each stage matter.
There are no course dates and nothing to attend. You enrol and pay in full online, we register you, and your assessor plans with you what evidence you need. It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how quickly the evidence comes together.
Once you've achieved it, you can apply for the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card, which is valid for five years. CSCS also asks that you've passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the level for your occupation within the last two years.

Enrol and pay online. We register you for the qualification.
You're assigned an assessor who plans your NVQ with you and guides you through it.
Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.
Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.
Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
An NVQ has no venue to travel to. It's assessed on the work you already do, so it suits site teams anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Derbyshire and beyond, with no time off site.

Choose it if most of your work is installing cavity barriers. The same qualification also comes in Ceiling Fixing, Dry Lining Finishing and Dry Lining Boarder pathways, each with its own page. If your work spans more than one, ask us before you enrol and we'll check the pathway against what you actually do.
Usually, yes. If you've worked as a cavity barrier installer for at least a year in the last three and you're registered on the NVQ, CSCS offers an Experienced Worker card. It lasts one year and can't be renewed, so the idea is to finish the NVQ in that time and then apply for the Blue Skilled Worker card. You'll need the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the right level either way.
Yes, as long as you're working in the trade and can show evidence from real jobs. Witness statements can come from someone who has seen your work, such as the site supervisor or the contractor you're working for. Your assessor will tell you what's acceptable before you start collecting.
