ProQual / Level 2
The Industrial Painter pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations, for experienced industrial painters who need a Blue CSCS card.
This is the Industrial Painter pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Decorative Finishing and Industrial Painting Occupations. It's for industrial painters whose work is preparing and coating steelwork and industrial structures, and it proves you do it safely and to a recognised standard.
Your evidence comes from the work you're doing now, from Doncaster and Barnsley to Chesterfield. Typical evidence: photos of steelwork and structures you've prepared and coated, the coating specifications and inspection records you worked to, and statements from your supervisor.
You don't sit in a classroom for this one. Enrol and pay online, and we register you and assign your assessor, who tells you exactly what to collect. Expect it to take typically 6 to 8 weeks if you keep the evidence coming.
Once you've achieved it, you can apply for the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card, which is valid for five years. CSCS also asks that you've passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the level for your occupation within the last two years.

Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.
Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
An NVQ has no venue to travel to. It's assessed on the work you already do, so it suits site teams anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Derbyshire and beyond, with no time off site.

Usually, yes. If you've worked as a industrial painter for at least a year in the last three and you're registered on the NVQ, CSCS offers an Experienced Worker card. It lasts one year and can't be renewed, so the idea is to finish the NVQ in that time and then apply for the Blue Skilled Worker card. You'll need the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the right level either way.
Yes, as long as you're working in the trade and can show evidence from real jobs. Witness statements can come from someone who has seen your work, such as the site supervisor or the contractor you're working for. Your assessor will tell you what's acceptable before you start collecting.
