ProQual / Level 2
For experienced cladders who fix sheet and panel cladding systems. A Level 2 NVQ assessed on your own jobs, for the Blue CSCS card.
The Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Cladding Occupations is for cladders who install sheet and panel systems on industrial, commercial and other buildings. The large logistics and industrial sheds built around Doncaster's iPort and the M1 corridor are typical of the work.
Your evidence comes from the jobs you're already on, whether that's in Sheffield, Rotherham or further afield. Typical evidence: photos of cladding you've installed, including fixings, flashings and trims, the drawings and system details you followed, and statements from your supervisor.
There are no course dates and nothing to attend. You enrol and pay in full online, we register you, and your assessor plans with you what evidence you need. It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how quickly the evidence comes together.
Once you've achieved it, you can apply for the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card, which is valid for five years. CSCS also asks that you've passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the level for your occupation within the last two years.
Once you're setting out and leading cladding packages, the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Cladding Occupations is the next step, for the Gold CSCS card.
Cladders and sheeters working on building envelopes who need a Level 2 NVQ for a Blue CSCS card.
An NVQ has no course dates. You prove you're competent with evidence from the work you already do, with an assessor guiding you from start to finish.
Enrol and pay online. We register you for the qualification.
You're assigned an assessor who plans your NVQ with you and guides you through it.
Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.
Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.
Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
An NVQ has no venue to travel to. It's assessed on the work you already do, so it suits site teams anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Derbyshire and beyond, with no time off site.

Usually, yes. If you've worked as a cladder for at least a year in the last three and you're registered on the NVQ, CSCS offers an Experienced Worker card. It lasts one year and can't be renewed, so the idea is to finish the NVQ in that time and then apply for the Blue Skilled Worker card. You'll need the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the right level either way.
Typically 6 to 8 weeks. The biggest factor is how quickly you gather the evidence: if you're working as a cladder every day and send photos and statements as you go, it moves quickly.
No. An NVQ is assessed on the work you do, so there are no course dates or classroom sessions. Our venue at Bradmarsh Business Park in Rotherham is used for CITB classroom courses such as SSSTS and SMSTS; for the Level 2 NVQ in Cladding Occupations the evidence comes from your own jobs.
