ProQual / Level 2
The Solid pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering, for experienced plasterers who need a Blue CSCS card. Assessed on your own jobs.
This is the Solid pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plastering. It's for plasterers whose work is solid plastering and rendering, on new-build, refurbishment or restoration jobs, and it proves you do it to a recognised standard.
Your evidence comes from your current sites across South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire. Typical evidence: photos of walls and ceilings you've plastered, render you've applied and the backgrounds you prepared, the specifications you followed, and statements from your supervisor.
An NVQ has no dates to book. You pay in full online, we register you, and your assessor agrees an evidence plan with you and reviews it as you go. Typically it takes 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish.
Once you've achieved it, you can apply for the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card, which is valid for five years. CSCS also asks that you've passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the level for your occupation within the last two years.
The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Plastering (Solid) is the next step for the Gold CSCS card.
Experienced plasterers who need a Level 2 NVQ for the Blue CSCS card and are working in the trade now.
An NVQ has no course dates. You prove you're competent with evidence from the work you already do, with an assessor guiding you from start to finish.
Enrol and pay online. We register you for the qualification.
You're assigned an assessor who plans your NVQ with you and guides you through it.
Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.
Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.
Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
An NVQ has no venue to travel to. It's assessed on the work you already do, so it suits site teams anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Derbyshire and beyond, with no time off site.

Choose it if most of your work is solid plastering and rendering. The same qualification also comes in Fibrous pathways, each with its own page. If your work spans more than one, ask us before you enrol and we'll check the pathway against what you actually do.
Usually, yes. If you've worked as a plasterer for at least a year in the last three and you're registered on the NVQ, CSCS offers an Experienced Worker card. It lasts one year and can't be renewed, so the idea is to finish the NVQ in that time and then apply for the Blue Skilled Worker card. You'll need the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the right level either way.
No. An NVQ is assessed on the work you do, so there are no course dates or classroom sessions. Our venue at Bradmarsh Business Park in Rotherham is used for CITB classroom courses such as SSSTS and SMSTS; for the Level 2 NVQ in Plastering (Solid) the evidence comes from your own jobs.
