The In Situ Flooring - Screed pathway of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Specialist Concrete Occupations, for experienced screeders who need a Blue CSCS card. Assessed on your own work.
This is Pathway 5, In Situ Flooring - Screed, of the Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Specialist Concrete Occupations. It's for screeders whose work is mainly laying floor screeds, and it proves you do it safely and to the specification.
Your evidence comes from real jobs on your own sites around Sheffield and Rotherham. Typical evidence: photos of screeds you've laid and finished to level, the specifications and level data you worked to, and statements from your supervisor.
An NVQ has no dates to book. You pay in full online, we register you, and your assessor agrees an evidence plan with you and reviews it as you go. Typically it takes 6 to 8 weeks from start to finish.
Once you've achieved it, you can apply for the CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card, which is valid for five years. CSCS also asks that you've passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the level for your occupation within the last two years.
Experienced screeders working in the trade now who need a Level 2 NVQ for a Blue CSCS card.
An NVQ has no course dates. You prove you're competent with evidence from the work you already do, with an assessor guiding you from start to finish.
Enrol and pay online. We register you for the qualification.
You're assigned an assessor who plans your NVQ with you and guides you through it.
Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.
Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.
Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
An NVQ has no venue to travel to. It's assessed on the work you already do, so it suits site teams anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Derbyshire and beyond, with no time off site.

Choose it if most of your work is laying floor screeds. The same qualification also comes in Concrete Repair, Concrete Drilling and Sawing, In Situ Flooring - Resin and In Situ Flooring - Concrete Finisher pathways, each with its own page. If your work spans more than one, ask us before you enrol and we'll check the pathway against what you actually do.
Usually, yes. If you've worked as a screeder for at least a year in the last three and you're registered on the NVQ, CSCS offers an Experienced Worker card. It lasts one year and can't be renewed, so the idea is to finish the NVQ in that time and then apply for the Blue Skilled Worker card. You'll need the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the right level either way.
Typically 6 to 8 weeks. The biggest factor is how quickly you gather the evidence: if you're working as a screeder every day and send photos and statements as you go, it moves quickly.
