About the course

The Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement is the fuller assessor qualification. It covers assessing candidates in their real workplace and in other settings, such as a training workshop or classroom, using a wider range of assessment methods.

It suits experienced construction people who want to assess NVQs and vocational qualifications, and trainers who assess learners in a training centre as well as on site. To assess an NVQ you also need to be occupationally competent in the area you assess.

You're assessed on real assessments you carry out with candidates, both in the workplace and in a training setting. If you'll only ever assess people at work, the Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment may be all you need.

Who it's for

Experienced construction workers, supervisors, managers and trainers who want to assess candidates at work and in training settings.

What you'll learn

  • Principles and practice of assessment
  • Assessing candidates in the workplace
  • Assessing in training settings with other methods
  • Making and recording assessment decisions
  • Giving feedback to candidates

How NVQs work

An NVQ has no course dates. You prove you're competent with evidence from the work you already do, with an assessor guiding you from start to finish.

    Register

Enrol and pay online. We register you for the qualification.

  2. 2

    Meet your assessor

You're assigned an assessor who plans your NVQ with you and guides you through it.

  3. 3

    Build your portfolio

Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.

  4. 4

    Assessment

Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.

  5. 5

    Certificate and CSCS card

Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
