About the course

This is the Roof Slater and Tiler pathway of the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Roofing Occupations. It's for roofers working at advanced craft level: setting out complex roofs in slates and tiles, forming difficult details and taking responsibility for the finished roof.

Your evidence comes from the sites you work on, anywhere from Barnsley to Worksop. Typical evidence: photos of complex roofs you've set out and finished in slates and tiles, including hips, valleys, dormers and abutments, the specifications you worked to, and statements from your supervisor or contracts manager.

There are no course dates and nothing to attend. You enrol and pay in full online, we register you, and your assessor plans with you what evidence you need. It typically takes 6 to 8 weeks, depending on how quickly the evidence comes together.

A construction-related Level 3 NVQ is what CSCS asks for before it issues the Gold Skilled Worker card. You'll also need to have passed the CITB Health, Safety and Environment test at the level for your occupation within the last two years. The Gold card is valid for five years.
