ProQual / Level 6
For clerks of works, senior site inspectors and quality managers who inspect construction work for a client or contractor. Assessed on your own job.
The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Senior Site Inspection is for people whose job is to check that construction work is built as designed and specified: clerks of works, senior site inspectors, quality managers and client-side inspectors on building and civil engineering projects.
Your evidence comes from the inspections you carry out: checking work against drawings and specifications, recording and reporting defects and non-conformances, keeping inspection records, reporting to the client or project team, and checking that health, safety and environmental requirements are being met on the sites you inspect.
There's no classroom and no exam. You build your portfolio from your own inspection work, your assessor observes you on site or by video, and you finish with a recorded professional discussion.
Senior Site Inspection is a construction technical NVQ at Level 6. CSCS lists construction management and technical NVQs at Level 4 to 7 for the Black Manager card, together with the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment test, so check CSCS's card finder for your occupation before you apply.

Gather evidence from the work you already do: documents, photos, reports and witness statements.
Your assessor reviews your evidence and confirms you meet each standard of the qualification.
Once you're signed off you receive your certificate and can apply for the CSCS card that goes with it.
An NVQ has no venue to travel to. It's assessed on the work you already do, so it suits site teams anywhere in Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, North Derbyshire and beyond, with no time off site.
