About the course

The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Contracting Operations Management is the management NVQ for people who don't run a site day to day but manage the commercial, technical or project side of construction work: senior quantity surveyors, commercial managers, contracts managers, planning managers, design managers and technical managers.

If you're a site manager, the Level 6 NVQ in Construction Site Management is usually a better fit. This one suits people whose evidence comes from cost and contract control, programming, procurement, design coordination and managing teams in the office as well as on site.

It's assessed on the work you already do, so your evidence might include cost reports and valuations, programmes, tender and procurement records, change control, and how you lead your team and manage health and safety within your area of responsibility. Your assessor holds a recorded professional discussion with you. There's no classroom.

With the NVQ and a pass in the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment test, you can apply for the CSCS Black Manager card.
