About the course

The Level 7 NVQ Diploma in Construction Senior Management is for people at the top of a construction business or division: directors, operations and regional directors, senior contracts managers and senior project managers who are responsible for strategy, several sites or a whole organisation.

Level 7 sits at the same level as a master's degree on the national framework. Your evidence comes from senior-level work: business and project strategy, health and safety policy and leadership, financial and commercial control, managing people and performance, and how you deal with clients and other stakeholders.

As with every NVQ, there are no exams or lectures. You build a portfolio from the decisions and documents you already produce, and your assessor holds a recorded professional discussion with you. It suits senior people who can't step away from the business.

With the NVQ and a pass in the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment test, you can apply for the CSCS Black Manager card.

Questions about the Level 7 NVQ

Something else? Call 07939 593032.

Who is the Level 7 NVQ for?

Senior people who set direction rather than run a single site: directors, operations and regional managers, and senior contracts or project managers. If you manage one site day to day, the Level 6 Construction Site Management NVQ is usually the better fit.

Does it lead to the Black CSCS card?

Yes. With the NVQ and a pass in the CITB Managers and Professionals Health, Safety and Environment test taken within the last two years, you can apply for the Black Manager card.

What is Level 7 equivalent to?

On the national qualifications framework (RQF), Level 7 is the same level as a master's degree. It's assessed on your competence at work, not by academic study or exams.

How much time will it take from my week?

Most of the evidence already exists in your day-to-day work, such as board reports, policies, tender reviews and performance meetings. Setting aside an hour or two a week for your portfolio keeps it moving. NVQs typically take 6 to 8 weeks.
